Yokohama, Japan – February 22: A visitor makes a picture of digital cameras without mirror x100vi … [+]
German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder said famously that every good director only makes the same movie over and over. I’m not a director, but as someone who occasionally cheats on the picture I see that strange feeling relative – especially when it comes to cameras. For years, I have bought the same camera, Fujifilm X100VI.
Well, kind. X100VI fell in February 2024 and although technically I only bought it once, it felt like it was not the first time. That’s because I was not young for the X100 series of Fujifilm, having previously copied both X100F and Smash-Hit X100V.
I have waxed poetic about My love affair with x100F In the past and my affinity with the X100 series is no secret. But half a year with X100VI has convinced me that although it is a very capable outfit, it is not a smart purchase for most people-especially for camera buyers for the first time or those seeking to revive their love for photography.
Let me explain.
“Look away, I’m naked, 2024.” Caught in Fujifilm X100VI.
Why do i have fojifilm x100vi
Like thousands of other people, I hurried to pre-porosisja X100VI just announced last February. It was an easy call, given that I was able to sell my old X100V almost at the same price as the new X100V (thanks Ticket). But for my annoyance, I just got my hands over it six months later in August 2024.
During that window, I turned to my boyfriend X100F, which was my first camera. I could have sold X100F when I was updated in X100V, but it kept me sentimental value for me, so I had decided to keep it.
“I can’t give up, 2025.” Caught in Fujifilm X100VI.
I was waiting for the change in speed when I moved to X100F, but I remembered that even eight years after its release, it was still a small phenomenal shooter. Video skills aside, X100F and X100V are almost identical – both in terms of specifications and design.
On paper, X100V comes with improved weather resistance and offers a slightly better resolution in 26 megapixel compared to 24 megapixels of X100F. In practice, however, this is hardly evident – even in severe weather conditions thanks to the excellent quality of Fujifilm construction.
Boasting a 40 megapixel sensor and image stabilization in the body (IBIS), similarly I was expecting X100VI to feel like a massive update compared to its two ancestors. But when the X100Vi finally reached my doorstep in August, I was surprised how little changes were the features of the lines made in my photo.
“We are all so small, 2024.” Caught in Fujifilm X100VI.
Don’t wrong me. Extra pixels and IBIS are welcome supplements, and I have received much more liberal with the harvest in post-production. But in the magnificent scheme of things, X100Vi carries the same shortcomings as its past repetitions.
Why should you not get Fujifilm X100VI
The X100 series is great. The camera camera is a beautiful part of the design and engineering, with excellent treatment, picture qualities and inexplicable magical simulations of the film. I understand why people love them so much and their popularity is deserved. But like most fixed lenses cameras, they are also extremely impractical-especially at that point price.
“You were never really there, 2025.” Caught in Fujifilm X100VI.
During the four years I spent with X100V, I went through a creative decline. I had lost my passion for photography and visual art. I found myself attending the same places, taking the same photos I had already taken and editing my work the same way as always. Any attempt to break away from it one -way resulted in the same thing.
So when nothing seemed to work, I convinced myself that a new, more powerful camera would help me with this routine. Hence X100VI. Yes, I consciously fell victim and terrible gear shopping syndrome—Ait again.
“The worst is still to come, 2025.” Caught in Fujifilm X100VI.
If you’ve done this away, you probably know a little bit of this in you – especially if you are on the market for your first camera or someone who can with a creative crisis. The bad news is that X100VI is probably not the solution. The good news is that the solution is much simpler.
Forget about gear and focus on the creative process. If you are young for photography, bring out your camera, give up the strangers and allow yourself the room for mistakes. Don’t worry about techniques and sharpness – there is beauty in imperfection. If you are struggling with a creative block, look for what made the fun picture in the first place – the rest will follow.

The photo is not about thousands of cast snaps. About it that you keep.
A camera is just a tool
The last six months with X100VI have been excellent. I hardly have gone more than three days without taking it out for a spin. I still get thousands of photos that I absolutely despise, but this is part of the process. Fortunately, I have also caught a dozen photos I am happy with – you’ve seen them all this part.
Even better, for the first time for a while I think my best job is still ahead of me.
“The truth is there, 2025.” Caught in Fujifilm X100VI.
But the reality is that X100VI had little to do with that. The ironic part is that I rediscover my passion for photography over the six months I spent with X100F pending X100VI.
Because at the end of the day, the camera is just a tool – whether it is X100F, X100V, X100VI or any other completely different camera. And the chances are the best tool for the job is the one you already have.
I have launched € 1,799 ($ 1,599) to learn that lesson. You can do the same. Or you can move forward and get my word for it – that costs nothing.
